Hurricane Relief

As the response and recovery to Hurricane Helene continues, Arlington County’s four public safety agencies are hosting a donation drive to benefit North Carolina residents in hard-hit communities impacted by the storm. 

Hurricane Helene caused significant devastation and damage leaving North Carolina residents in need of essential supplies. The Arlington County Police Department, Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office and Public Safety Communications and Emergency Management are partnering with our generous community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.


Donation Times and Locations

Public Safety personnel will collect donations on:

* Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Arlington Assembly of God, 4501 N. Pershing Drive

* Friday, Nov. 1 from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Arlington Assembly of God, 4501 N. Pershing Drive

 

Essential Supplies Needed for Donation

The following new, unopened essential supplies are needed:

* Cleaning/Laundry/Paper Supplies: all-purpose cleaners, Dish soap, Heavy-duty trash bags, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper

* Hygiene Products: bandages. body wipes, diapers/pull-Ups (babies, toddlers and adult sizes), deodorant, dry shampoo

* Other Items: batteries (any size), flashlights/lanterns, hand/feet warmers, nitrile gloves in sizes small and medium, tarps, work gloves

* Monetary donations (cash and/or gift cards) will not be accepted. Consider giving directly to one of these organizations:

Asheville Police Foundation

North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund

United Way of Southwest Virginia

 

Distribution

Arlington County’s public safety agencies have partnered with Paul Davis Restoration to transport the donated items to North Carolina where they’ll be transferred to community organizations assisting those affected by Hurricane Helene
